Short Synopsis

A man inherits a new life by escaping to a rural Cornish fishing village suffering from famine. When the village reveals its hidden truths, he learns the depths he will go to survive.

The Bucca - Folklore

The Bucca is an ancient Cornish folklore from southwest Penwith, specifically stemming from small fishing villages such as Newlyn, Mousehole, and Lamorna.

According to folklore, a noble prince was cursed by dark magic to spend his days as a humanoid sea creature, possessing a conger eel tail, skin, and hair of tangled seaweed. During the 1800s and 1900s, fishermen would leave some of their catch on the shore as an offering to the Bucca, hoping to quell its anger so it would lead fish into their nets and crabs into their pots.
